Workforce Training

A key to the success of any business or industry is a well-trained workforce that meets the needs of the local employment base. Ashe County is proud to offer comprehensive workforce development programs that meet the needs of businesses both large and small. The Ashe Campus of Wilkes Community College (WCC) offers seven full associate degree programs and a wide range of occupational training programs designed to ensure that your employees have the skills now and in the future to meet the growing demands of a global economy.  Customized training programs can be developed for specific business or industry needs, ranging from customer service and computer applications to welding and Lean manufacturing. Classes can be held at the
recently-expanded campus or held on-site at a very low cost or, in some cases, at no charge to the business or the employee. Additionally, WCC is the provider of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) services for Ashe County, offering additional training opportunities and an on-the-job training program that might offset up to half of a new employee’s salary during his or her initial weeks of employment. Looking to hire new employees? Then the NCWorks Career Center located at Ashe Family Central is your one-stop spot for recruiting and screening qualified workers at no charge to you or your company. Whatever your workforce development needs, Ashe County and its partners stand ready to assist you in finding and developing the key employees that will make your company successful.
